How to get started

  1. Apply to SLCC
  2. Placement Process
    • The Placement Process, ACT or SAT test scores must be recorded on the SLCC system before the student can attend Orientation. See SLCC testing services for more information.

  3. All new students must complete a mandatory new student orientation to be eligible to register for courses. Transfer and returning students are also highly encouraged to attend; early participation in orientation will allow students to register up to ten weeks before the open registration period.

  4. Visit with Advisor
    • It is strongly recommended that all students meet with their academic advisor in order to help them plan and prepare for the program of their choice

Steps to schedule an appointment with an advisor

      1. Go to your MySLCC account
      2. Click on the Advising tab
      3. In the “Find Your Advisor” box, click “Login to MySuccess”
      4. In the search box, type the advisor’s name:

        Biotechnology Advisor
        Chris Bruun
        801-957-3751
        chris.bruun@slcc.edu

      5. Click on the advisor’s profile and it will bring up a “schedule appointment” button
      6. Look at the availability and schedule an appointment

  5. Sign up for classes
  6. Biotechnology Orientation
    • Due to the competency-based format, all students entering the program need to schedule an orientation with our CBE Student coordinator Doug Knaphus to discuss the program and how it works.
