Concurrent Enrollment

Concurrent Enrollment Advising

Four simple steps to make the most of concurrent enrollment.

Step 1: Attend a Concurrent Enrollment Orientation

Before you begin your concurrent enrollment journey your high school will go over some basic information you need to know to be successful in your first concurrent enrollment class(es). Usually this information is presented by the CE coordinator at the high school or a high school counselor. If your high school doesn't offer a CE Orientation, you can attend one virtually here:

Step 2: Complete one semester of CE classes

It's important to give concurrent enrollment and college a try before you jump right into academic planning. Once you've had a chance to test the waters by successfully completing a semester of concurrent enrollment, you are ready to jump into building your plan to make serious progress toward knocking off your general education requirements or working toward a degree.

Step 3: Meet with your high school counselor & build a plan

Now that you know what college is like and have figured out how you are able to best manage that responsibility, it's time to start mapping out the classes you need to achieve your college and career goals. Your high school counselor will go over a few things with you and then direct you to the videos and exercises at the link below. It's important that you don't move on to these videos until you have met with your high school counselor.

Step 4: Junior year+, Spring semester Check-in with counselor

For students who are committed to graduating with a General Education Certificate of Completion or associates degree by high school graduation, during the Spring semester of your junior year in high school, or any semester thereafter, you will need to meet with your high school counselor who will help you transition your plan to SLCC's DegreeWorks and give you information about graduation and financial aid opportunities. Be sure to meet with your counselor before watching the video at the link below.
