SLCC CE Transition Scholarship
en EspañolSalt Lake Community College offers SLCC concurrent enrollment students a full-tuition waiver for the first two semesters at SLCC after high school graduation.
Updated qualification guidelines are available here:
Tuition Waiver Awards for Incoming High School Graduates
Do I have to apply to get the scholarship?
No. Concurrent Enrollment students who qualify will have the tuition waiver automatically applied.
When will I receive the scholarship?
The timeline for processing the tuition waiver depends on when a student’s final SLCC CE grades are posted. If a student is taking CE courses in the spring semester of their senior year, their final SLCC GPA cannot be calculated until after the last day of the high school academic year. All waivers will be applied by the start of the following fall semester.
Will the scholarship cover my first summer semester right out of high school?
Yes, however as outlined above, the date the waiver can be applied varies. If a student is taking spring semester CE courses and registers for a summer class that starts in May, the waiver will not be applied until after the student's final grades have posted, generally by the end of June.
Will I still qualify if I am planning on serving a mission, entering the peace corps, enlisting in the military, or other deferment after high school graduation?
SLCC does not defer scholarships. However, if you don't take any classes on campus before leaving on your mission or participating in other service, you can apply as an incoming freshmen when you return & still be considered for the scholarship as if you started SLCC immediately after high school.
If I took my first 3 credits during the fall semester of my senior year and I am currently enrolled in 3 credits for spring semester, do I still qualify even thought I haven't completed 6 credits yet?
Yes. When the waiver is applied, it is based on your final SLCC CE transcript and if it shows at least six credit hours with at least a 2.0 GPA. This will be checked after spring semester grades are posted.
