Technical Education Credit Programs

Follow these steps to enroll in SLTC programs:

  1. Apply for Admission
  2. Complete Your Assessment
    • You’ll have to take the CASAS (Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment Systems) to determine your academic skill level.
    • You may want to familiarize yourself with the CASAS Test before taking the test. Contact the number listed at the SLCC Testing Center that works best for you to take the test.
  3. Meet with an Advisor
    • After completing your assessment, meet with an advisor to review your test results and programs, and to complete orientation.
    • Advisors are available in room 1-061 G at South City Campus, TB 407 at Taylorsville Redwood Campus, SSB 101B at Westpointe Campus or Room JHS 047 at Jordan Campus. Contact 801-957-4073.
  4. Pay Tuition & Schedule Courses
    • Be sure you apply early for financial aid.
    • Before you register for courses, you’ll have to pay your tuition at Cashier Services.
    • Once tuition is paid for your first course/s, your advisor will help you with the registration process.

Workforce Training Not-For-Credit Programs

Follow these steps to enroll in skilled short-term training programs:

  1. Select Program of Interest
    • Click on your area of interest. Or you can click on the All Programs box and this will connect you to the A-Z index.
  2. View Program Page
    • Once you click on the program you are interested in you will be directed to the program page.
    • On this page you can find out the following: Program information, Occupations, Wages, Certification Information, Pricing, Funding Available.
  3. Register Now
    • Once you read through the information you can click on ‘Register Now’ button. Note: You will be taken to the Enrole Registration System.
    • You will be taken directly to the session, course, and class you are interested in registering in.
  4. Create Student Profile
    • If you are new to the system, click on “Create Profile” to enter your information and register for upcoming sessions, courses, and classes. Enter ALL information requested, including reviewing, and accepting the Financial Responsibility Statement.

ESL Programs

      1. Complete the SLCC application online, slcc.edu/apply Pay the application fee of $20 ($75 for International Student). Valid for 3 years, non-refundable.
        • Allow 1-2 business days for the application to be processed.
        • For assistance with the application contact the Office of Admissions at 801-957-4485.
        • Get your student number and MySLCC username by visiting any campus or online.
        • You will need access to your MySLCC account before taking the ESL test in Step 2. To log in to your MySLCC account, please visit https://my.slcc.edu/ Having trouble? Call the Help Desk at 801-957-5555.
      2. Take the ESL test (ESL Self Placement Test) Average test time is 40-60 mins.
        • The ESL Self Placement Test can be completed online http://www.slcc.edu/testing/placement/esl-placement-test.aspx
        • Prefer to test on campus instead? You can visit any of the Testing Centers to receive help http://www.slcc.edu/testing/locations-and-hours.aspx Need to retest? Please contact Testing Services at 801-957-4673.
      3. Schedule an appointment with an ESL academic advisor to review your test scores and cost estimate:

    1. Pay tuition in full or set-up a payment plan: Tuition costs provided are subject to change. Cost of books and supplies is not included in estimate below Non-Credit ESL classes (Beginning I-Intermediate II)

      Credit ESL classes (Advanced I & Advanced II): Student’s tuition and fees will be based on residency status and credits taken per semester. Each class (Reading/Writing or Listening/Speaking) is 5 credits. Vocabulary, Grammar, Pronunciation, or Conversation classes are 3 credits.     2. Schedule another appointment with an ESL academic advisor. Bring your tuition receipt to proceed with the registration process.
