Elementary teachers in Utah require a Professional Educator License (PEL). Individuals with a bachelor’s degree may be qualified to teach elementary school through an Alternative Pathway to Professional Educator Licensing (APPEL) process. Transition to Teaching offers five pedagogy courses and four methods courses for teachers seeking their elementary PEL.

  1. Obtain an Associate Educator License (AEL) from the Utah State Board of Education (USBE)
  2. Apply to Salt Lake Community College following these steps
  3. Follow these directions to register for classes on MySLCC or through the College Scheduler
  1. Select a program
    View program details including occupations, wages, certifications, pricing, and available funding.
  2. Select the REGISTER NOW button
  3. Click on SIGN IN
  4. Select CREATE PROFILE
    Enter your details, including reviewing, and accepting the Financial Responsibility statement.
  5. Submit Profile
  6. Add the course to your SHOPPING CART
