After completing your online application, please submit the following documents using one of the methods listed:

  • Upload the documents with your SLCC online application
  • Scan and email the documents as PDF attachments in one complete packet to international.affairs@slcc.edu
  • Mail documents (N.B. sending documents by mail could delay the processing of your application)

Your application documents will be evaluated once all of them have been received. Incomplete applications will NOT be accepted for evaluation. A USCIS Form I-20 and the SLCC acceptance letter will be issued after all required documents have been received and evaluated by the above deadlines.

1. Proof of Financial Ability

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) requires Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) to verify that an international student submits evidence of financial ability for the length of time necessary to pursue an education in the United States. A realistic financial plan is required for the issuance of the USCIS Form I-20. Official financial documents from the student or the student’s sponsor are used to demonstrate financial ability.

  • Submit an official bank statement, from the bank account holder, verifying the amount of at least $26,157 in liquid assets.
  • For sponsors, a signed Financial Statement of support is also required: Financial Statement Form (PDF)
  • For students coming with dependents, an additional $2,000 for the first dependent is required, $1,000 per each additional dependent.
  • Estimated expenses at SLCC (2023-2024)
    • Tuition & Fees for two semesters (non-resident): $13,950.50
    • Room & Board (Housing & Food) for 10 Months: $8,500.25
    • Transportation & Personal Expenses: $1,500
    • Books & Supplies: $800
    • Health Insurance for two semesters: $1,406.25
    • Total: $26,157

2. Official Proof of High School Graduation

SLCC International Admissions policy requires official proof demonstrating completion of secondary education equivalent to a U.S. academic high school diploma. English translations may be required.

3. Copy of Main Passport Page

  • Provide a copy of the main passport page including:
    • Name
    • Photo
    • Passport expiration date

English Proficiency

It is not necessary to take the TOEFL or any other English proficiency exam to be admitted to Salt Lake Community College (SLCC). All students are required to go through a placement process upon arrival at SLCC.

Students on an F-1 visa are eligible to take ESL AM morning classes, which typically run between 8:00 am and 1:50 pm. Students on an F-1 visa are not eligible for ESL PM evening classes.

Health Insurance

All F-1 students are enrolled in the SLCC Ascension Health Insurance plan.

  • Coverage begins the day before orientation upon payment.
  • Insurance cards will be available online five days after payment is received.

HEALTH REQUIREMENTS

Vaccinations and Tuberculosis Testing

All students are required to provide proof of vaccination for measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) and be tested for Tuberculosis (TB) before starting classes at SLCC.

  1. Fill out the TB Screening and MMR form.
  2. Fill out the Patient Information form.
  3. Bring the completed forms to SLCC’s Center for Health and Counseling.
    • The Health and Counseling staff will test you for TB.
    • Bring a copy of your insurance card from Ascension.
