Basic Needs Resources

Access to basic needs should never be a barrier to a student’s academic success, and the Thayne Center is committed to reducing these challenges through comprehensive Basic Needs services. Through the Bruin Pantry—one of the largest collegiate food pantries in the nation with five locations across the Salt Lake Valley—students can access fresh and shelf-stable foods, including specialty items that meet a wide range of dietary and cultural needs. In addition, the Coordinator for Basic Needs provides individualized support by connecting students to campus and community-based resources related to food insecurity, housing navigation, health and wellness, and access to technology. Together, these efforts align with Salt Lake Community College’s mission and values by expanding access to education and supporting student success, while reflecting the Thayne Center’s commitment to care, advocacy, and removing barriers so all students can find belonging and connection.
