Program Overview
This AutoCAD Fundamentals course is designed to equip students with essential 2D drafting and design skills using Autodesk's industry-standard software. This hands-on AutoCAD training introduces learners to the core tools, interface, and workflows used in technical drawing and digital design across architecture, engineering, and manufacturing fields.
Whether you're just starting your design journey or looking to build a strong foundation before advancing to specialized tools like Civil 3D or Revit, this course provides the practical skills and confidence needed to succeed in today's digital design environment.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
- Apply basic drafting techniques to create 2-dimensional mechanical and architectural drawings
- Draw with accuracy using tool icons, shortcut commands, and menus
- Insert existing content into new drawings
- Manage viewports, layouts, printing, and plotting settings
CERTIFICATION
Upon successful completion of the AutoCAD Fundamentals program, students will receive:
- An official Autodesk Certificate of Completion for AutoCAD Fundamentals
- A Workforce Training Microcredential issued by SLCC

Your tuition includes an e-textbook, access to AutoCAD software, and dedicated class time to complete assignments with instructor support.
For online students and those completing homework at home, please ensure your computer meets the system requirements for running the software. You can find the official specifications here:

Funding Sources
Utah residents who have lived in the state for at least 12 months may qualify for Strategic Workforce Term Intensive Training (SWI) funding, which covers up to 50% of tuition costs for this program.
How to apply for SWI funding:
- Complete and submit the SWI Funding application.
- Receive your approval email and discount code.
- Register for the program using your discount code

- Funding is based on Utah residency of a minimum of 12 months.
- You must complete a SWI application to determine eligibility.
- SWI funding is limited and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
