Concurrent Enrollment

Liaison Overview

Download The Annual Liaison Requirements Checklist

SLCC employs members of its faculty and staff to act as Liaisons between CE Instructors working in high schools, SLCC’s Concurrent Enrollment Department, and SLCC’s Academic Departments. These Liaisons are entrusted with helping CE Instructors create a rigorous and authentic college experience for their students. Liaisons are also responsible for ensuring that CE Instructors comply with college procedures and rules, state and federal laws, and academic department expectations.

Core Responsibilities

  • Coordinate new and ongoing trainings for CE Instructors
  • Communicate to CE Instructors all relevant college policies and Utah and Federal laws
  • Communicate to CE Instructors all professional expectations and standards set by the CE Department and Academic Departments
  • Support CE Instructor concerns, document complaints, and direct CE Instructors to SLCC resources
  • Review CE Instructors’ course material
  • Carry out and document classroom observation visits
  • Document compliance issues and communicate them to High School Administrators and the Concurrent Enrollment Department
  • Provide actionable feedback which includes directing CE Instructors to on-campus resources

Supporting New Instructors

Approved CE Instructors are qualified to teach courses from a professional or academic standpoint, however they will not necessarily be familiar with college procedures and systems. As they usher new CE Instructors into SLCC’s community, Liaisons should work to support access to these procedures and systems by:

  • Providing additional guidance during the first year as needed or requested by CE Instructors and High School Administrators. This might include enrolling Instructors in faculty development programs, modeling communicating with SLCC’s support teams including the help desk and transcript office, and moderating requests for support with Academic Department Leadership.
  • Connecting CE Instructors with on-campus resources related to college access, community events, and support structures.
