Getting Started

Visit our Admissions Resources page to learn more about the steps to get started at SLCC.

Do you want some assistance completing your Free Application for Federal Student Aid? The Office of Financial Aid has FAFSA Completion Assistance.

Scholarships

We also have many scholarships available. With one scholarship application for almost all of our scholarships, it’s a great place to start! Check out the Scholarship page for deadlines and details.

Are you undocumented and looking ways to pay for college? The Dream Center has resources to support you.

Learning doesn’t just happen in a classroom. It happens through work experience, certifications and licenses you may have for your job. Through speaking another language, pursuing a passion or taking on a caregiver role. At Salt Lake Community College, we meet students where they are in life – and we provide them a pathway to earn college credit for what they already know. If you’ve ever looked at a course syllabus and thought “I can teach this class,” you may be eligible for Credit for Prior Learning.

The Transcript Evaluation Office evaluates your official transcripts from other schools and applies course credits to your SLCC transcript for placement and graduation purposes. There are three steps to the transcript evaluation process.

If you attended SLCC before and took a break, please complete the Admissions Application Update to let us know you’re ready to come back.

Are you currently enrolled in another college or university, but want to attend SLCC with the intention of transferring credits back to your primary institution? Check out the Guest Student Program for more information.

If you need a little help deciding, you can always take the Focus 2 career exploration tool with some fun quizzes to help you explore how your skills and interests might connect to academic programs and future careers. You can also search for the careers on O*Net Online to look up wages for the careers and more.

We host an annual open house each spring. Come and explore a variety of programs and resources available to you at SLCC. You’re invited to Explore SLCC.

Once you’re a student, we have so many additional resources available to help you continue your path and explore additional opportunities.
