The Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships
The Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships assists students in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
We also inform students of the requirements to keep financial aid, including:
- Maintaining satisfactory progress
- Completing classes in a timely manner
- Keeping on pace for graduation within the normal time frame
Students can also learn about non-Title IV aid sources of funding, such as:
- Scholarships
- Tuition waiver programs
- The SLCC Promise Program
Financial Aid in 7 Steps
- Apply online using Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Go to FAFSA
- Enter SLCC Federal School Code: 005220
- Use IRS Data Retrieval Tool when possible
- SLCC Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships (OFAS) receives FAFSA data and requests information
- Check your BruinMail account for emails from SLCC OFAS
- Requested information is found on MySLCC
- Submit requested information to SLCC OFAS
- Submit paperwork by priority dates:
- Fall Priority Date - April 15
- Spring Priority Date - November 1
- Summer Priority Date - April 1
- Submit paperwork by priority dates:
- SLCC OFAS determines aid eligibility and sends award offer email
- Check your BruinMail account for messages from SLCC OFAS
- Review award offer and complete all requirements for awards
- Loans require acceptance, loan entrance counseling, and a master promissory note
- Set up direct deposit refunds through SLCCPay+
- Direct deposit is the fastest refund option
- If direct deposit is not set up, excess funds will be mailed by check to current mailing address in MySLCC
- SLCC OFAS transfers aid to SLCC Cashier Services about 5 working
days before the semester starts- You must be enrolled, making Satisfactory Academic Progress, and meet all aid requirements
- If the amount of your aid exceeds your bill, you will be eligible for a refund
