Advantages of SLCC Honors

  • Increased opportunities for students in preparation to transfer to four-year institutions
  • Individualized success coaching and financial support
  • Students interact and form relationships with a diverse community of Honors student, staff, and faculty from a variety of disciplines
  • Upon graduation, students receive an Honors designation on their degree and transcript which can provide a competitive advantage for scholarships and transferring to four-year institutions
  • Students will also receive special recognition at Commencement and will receive an Honors medallion
  • Letter of Recommendation and/or Reference from the Honors Program Coordinator for scholarship/transfer/employment/housing opportunities
  • Faculty and peer mentoring
  • Strong, reflective Honors ePortfolio that showcases student learning, academic growth, and personal transformation
  • Transfer articulations – Partnership with the University of Utah that provides a seamless transfer into the University of Utah’s Honors College that offers SLCC Honors Program transfer students with scholarship and housing opportunities
  • Designated Honors Lounge in the Technology Building (TB) Room 323A at the SLCC Taylorsville Redwood campus

Seamless Transfer

The SLCC Honors Program has an Articulation Agreement with the University of Utah Honors College (UUHC) that allows students to transfer in as an Honors student once they complete an associate’s degree from SLCC with a 3.5 GPA. Students who are not transferring to the U of U should inquire with both their transfer institution’s Admissions Office and its Honors College for details.
